To update Modern Sherbet you may do it via two options; note that if you have made any changes within the main theme, the changes will be overwritten. I recommend installing the child theme along with the main theme and injecting all customization’s there.


1. Re-write files

  • Backup outdated theme
  • Look at the Changelog at http://sherbet.theme.donaldlouch.ca/change-log/ OR in the download file; for File(s) Updated: (indicated with “*”); note down the changed files
  • Download the theme folder from your dashboard on DonaldLouch.ca
  • Extract “modernsherbetX.X.X.zip” File
  • Extract “modernsherbet.zip” file in the newly extracted “modernsherbetX.X.X” folder
  • Open your FTP client
  • Login to your FTP account
  • From your “public_html” folder navigate to /YOUR WORDPRESS INSTALL/wp-content/themes/modernsherbet
  • Open new folder view
  • Navigate to the newly extracted “modernsherbet” folder from the “modernsherbetX.X.X” folder
  • Drag and drop the updated files that are listed in the changelog
  • Click the “Replace” button or something of that nature
  • Once uploaded go to your WordPress Install address
  • Head to /admin | /wp-login | /wp-admin
  • Login to Admin Level account
  • Navigate to “Appearance” > “Themes“
  • Hover over “modernSherbet“
  • Click the “Activate” button; if not already activated
  • Your Done!


2. Fresh Install (if no custom changes are made)

  • Backup outdated theme
  • Download the theme folder from your dashboard on DonaldLouch.ca
  • Extract “modernsherbetX.X.X.zip” File
  • Extract “modernsherbet.zip” file in the newly extracted “modernsherbetX.X.X” folder
  • Open your FTP client
  • Login to your FTP account
  • From your “public_html” folder navigate to /YOUR WORDPRESS INSTALL/wp-content/themes
  • Drag and Drop the newly extracted “modernsherbet” folder to the “themes” folder
  • Click the “Replace” button or something of that nature
  • Once uploaded go to your WordPress Install address
  • Head to /admin | /wp-login | /wp-admin
  • Login to Admin Level account
  • Navigate to “Appearance” > “Themes“
  • Hover over “modernSherbet“
  • Click the “Activate” button; if not already activated
  • Your Done!


Once you have installed the theme I recommend you do some quick setup!
